This was our 4th year in row sharing healthy food choices at Truman Benedict Elementary and this Mama Bear's class is always one of our favorite visits!

We've taken something that is so simple and natural and made a mess of it. It's called EATING and every other creature on this planet knows how to do it in order to preserve their species. Our big human brains have developed thousands of ways to eat poorly and for some reason we are hell bent to keep inventing more. As a result, we've created the first generation of kids in the history of the world not expected to have longer life spans than their parents. We should not be ok with that.

I occasionally get stopped in public when people recognize me from The Noble Path Foundation or the Real Food Forums I do with the schools. While it is always a blast to hear the feedback and appreciation for our cause —spreading awareness on the importance of healthy lifestyle and nutrition choices for our youth— it is even better when I get the chance to witness this mission in action.
While shopping in Albertsons today, I noticed a father carefully checking the labels on items in the beverage aisle, while explaining to his young son how some “healthy” looking drinks can actually have as much sugar as a soda. Instances like this truly make my heart sing and give me hope that we can indeed turn the tide on childhood obesity, epidemic numbers of Type 2 diabetes and early death caused by food-induced chronic diseases.
